About the International Morse Code

Morse code is a method used in telecommunication to encode text characters as standardized sequences of two different signal durations, called dots and dashes, or dits and dahs. Morse code is named after Samuel Morse, one of the inventors of the telegraph.

How to Read Morse Code

  • Dot (.) - Short signal
  • Dash (-) - Long signal (typically 3 times the dot duration)
  • Space between symbols - Duration of one dot
  • Space between letters - Duration of three dots
  • Space between words - Duration of seven dots

Learning Tips

The best way to learn Morse code is through consistent practice. Start with common letters like E, T, A, and N. Use audio playback to train your ear to recognize the patterns. With regular practice, you can become proficient in both sending and receiving Morse code.
